An Irish George II Mahogany Writing Cabinet
The top section with scrolling broken pediment carved with flower heads and centered by an eagle with outstretched wings, enclosing adjustable shelves above a pair of drawers, the base with an adjustable reading-slope with a drawer thats slides forward to reveal a writing surface and additional drawers, the apron carved with scrolling acanthus leaves, flower heads and centered by a scallop shell, raised on cabriole legs with similar carved motifs terminating in paw feet with hairy fetlock. Note: The handles and locks have been replaced and the mirror plates are mercury-silvered replacements.
